a licensed mental health therapist living in beautiful San Diego! I’m licensed in both California (LPCC #14424) and in Washington (LH61125304)! I received both my undergraduate degree and my graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. I’ve been a therapist since 2016.
My approach as a psychotherapist is to meet my clients with compassion, curiosity, and honesty. I aim to practice cultural competence as much as possible by continuing my own work as a global citizen and practicing cultural humility.
I believe we are made to be in connection with others, and we heal when we are also supported and feel seen. I suspect you might be willing to trust this is true if you are willing to give therapy a try, because you and I will work together to support your needs. This also means sometimes, if you are one of my younger clients (ie, a teen) I will ask that there is a supportive family member that I can connect with about your care as needed. Or, it might mean I will ask you about your support systems in your daily life outside of therapy.
I approach our practice together from a trauma-informed lens, as well as with some evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices that may include bringing awareness to our somatic experiences, and EMDR-based practices (I have been EMDR trained since 2022).Beyond being a therapist, I have lived up and down the West Coast and truly believe it’s the best Coast! I spend my time with my loved ones--including one very loveable pup named Boba; nerding out over psychology, culture, and neuroscience, and reading fiction!
